I smell ridiculous in the air. Pumpkins aren't ridiculous - peoples reaction to pumpkins are a bit much. I get it. The sweet smell and tantalizing taste of pumpkin spice can trigger a nostalgic emotional response in our brains. The pumpkin spice blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cloves. That spice combination is delicious when used in the right types of food. But did you notice something missing? Pumpkin!
Most pumpkin spice mixtures don't even involve an actual pumpkin. Yep - is not the key ingredient in a pumpkin spiced latte. Sadly, pumpkin is the least delicious ingredient in a pumpkin pie! Fun Fact: Americans spent upwards of $500M on pumpkin spice flavored foods in 2018, according to USA Today There are so many things wrong with that sentence I can't even.
Baked goods are generally a green light for all things pumpkin-flavored. Cheesecake Factory pumpkin cheesecake? Yes. Bagel with pumpkin spice cream cheese? Beautiful. Pumpkin spice muffins? Absolutely.
But pumpkin spice isn't a condiment like ketchup or barbecue sauce; you can't just slap it on anything you want without some pointed feedback. Let's explore a few...pumpkin ridiculousness.

Last pumpkin season, Spam announced it's release of a Pumpkin Spice variety of canned meat, joining the 15 other varieties of the 82-year old brand. Let's get past the meat has flavors part and quietly wonder about the boardroom of folks who had to approve this idea.

Don't leave the pups out of this pumpkin themed madness! Whole Foods created a pumpkin flavored, soft and chewy dog treat. I know what you're thinking. Maybe you'll take a nibble to verify the pumpkin flavor? Please don't.
